Admission to Graduate School

Admission to this program requires admission to the Missouri State University Graduate College. Please go to the Graduate College website for specific requirements and procedures.

Admission to the MA program in the Department of History requires a minimum of twenty-four hours of history or its equivalent.

Applicants need three letters of recommendation. Please have these sent to F. Thornton Miller, History Graduate Director, History Department, Missouri State University, 901 S. National, Springfield, MO 65897. Or they can be submitted by email to FTMiller@missouristate.edu

Applicants must either submit recent GRE scores (on the general exam, the specific history subject exam not being required) or have a Missouri teaching certificate in social studies. Applicants with a GPA below 3.00 on a 4.00 scale must submit recent GRE scores.
